About Me
Hello! My name is Donald Yeh, and I am a proud graduate of the University of Florida, where I obtained a B.S. in Chemistry. Go Gators! After completing my degree, I pursued my passion to become a math teacher, and for the past 12 years, I have been teaching in the public school system. Throughout my career, I have taught Algebra 1 & 2, Geometry, AP Calculus AB & BC, and IB Math SL to a diverse group of students with varying skill levels. Thanks to my teaching approach, I have helped many students improve their test scores and gain admission to prestigious schools like Harvard, Yale, MIT, Cal Tech, and Princeton. Getting Results To enhance my students' math skills, I listen to them, establish a personal connection, and design lesson plans that incorporate their interests and hobbies. Within just one year of joining Olympia High School, I successfully increased my students' AP pass rate from 32.8% to 91.9%. This remarkable achievement represented an increase of almost 60% during my first year of employment, at a time when Florida's average AP pass rate was only 53%. Furthermore, out of the 91.9% of my students who passed the AP exam, roughly 50% of them achieved the highest mark of 5. I am committed to bringing out the best in my students, regardless of their skill level or aptitude for math.
Why Choose Me? / My Teaching Philosophy
One of my former students went from hating math to becoming a mathematician. How did that happen? I believe it's because I know how to build relationships with ALL of my students and teach with passion. I bring a fresh perspective to math and make it enjoyable, as I believe learning should be engaging, not dull. Most importantly, I recognize that every student is unique, and I tailor their education accordingly.
"Education is not a problem. Education is an opportunity." -Lyndon B. Johnson
I have always been able to produce outstanding results when it comes to my students' education and success. I don't judge my teaching abilities based on the most talented students I have mentored, but rather on the low-scoring students who have thrived under my guidance. Through my teaching strategies, I have a proven track record of producing favorable results. I hope you will consider choosing me as your student's guide to educational progress!
